Description

Lets get this party started!

Welcome to the 2016 Stink Eye

The 3rd annual Stink Eye, in Greenville, SC, is shaping up to be the Welsh Terrier event of the season. We are very excited to announce that we have expanded our event space to accommodate 200 attendees, their multiple welshies and terrier friends and brother/sister doggies. This is an increase of 100 spaces and God knows how many terriers.

We have also turned Thursday into more than a check-in day, with dinner on your own. Thursday is now a Meet and Greet (with the return of our very popular Build-A-Bar) and yummy appetizers, followed by a catered dinner and Learning Symposium.

YES! We will be giving away a free hotel room again (Compliments of Clarion Inn and Suites), but this year it will be awarded as raffle prize, you can by as many room raffel tickets as you like for $1.00 each, up until our drawing on Saturday night. If your number is drawn, your room is free for the entire 3-Day Event!

Important hotel booking information: The Clarion Inn and Suite has generously given us (practically) the whole hotel, along with a special rate that includes all dog fees and a complete hot southern breakfast. To get the special rate you MUST book directly with the hotel (No third party billing). Our room rate is 90.00 per night for a Double Queen (as pictured above) and 110.00 for a suite (which includes a living room area and extra-large bath. Please note that the suites are limited, but the double queens are spacious and all rooms have just been remodeled.

Note: We are very lucky to have this hotel, they were thrilled with our group last year and very generous with their space this year. We are allowed to take the dogs everywhere within the hotel EXCEPT into the resturant/bar area during breakfast (as other guest maybe dining and also no dogs in the pool. We do ask that you crate your dog during dinner, those not staying at the hotel bring a soft crate, many attendees will allow you to crate in their room. All doggies can join us after dinner for the evening events, they are even welcomed in the bar/resturant area....just like an English Pub.

Host Hotel Reservation Number is (864)254-6383

Agenda

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Check-in

  • Start your tab for the weekend: no money will be collected during the event, all expenditures such as: auction items, casino play, art auction or any other purchase or donation will go on your tab. Remember all your meals and drinks are already paid for through your registration, the only food or drink money you will need is for Friday’s lunch at the ROOST, during our walk in downtown Greenville. This lunch is optional and you may opt to dine at any of the dog friendly restaurants downtown ─ we all just loved last year welcome and lunch at Roost and decided to go back.
  • Pick-up your gift bag, lots of goodies this year
  • Turn in your liquor for the Build-a-Bar
  • Purchase your 2016 Stink Eye T-shirt, featuring an original piece of art work by Paolo Prossen
  • Volunteer to work one event during the weekend (it’s all paws on deck this year)
  • Peruse the silent auction table
  • Get your badge and open bar pass for the entire 3-day event

Meet and Greet/Cocktail & Appetizers

This year we are planning for twice the attendees and twice the numbers of Welshies (and friends), this Meet and Greet will offer the opportunity to renew old friendship and have a drink with new ones. The Build-a-Bar was a huge hit last year and we are thrilled to do it again this year. With everyone bringing two of their favorite bottles of liquor, and or as much beer and wine as they can imagine drinking or sharing, the Head, Stink Eye bartender (John Glaser) will make sure there are plenty of mixers, snack and accoutrements throughout the entire event. It’s our version of an open bar. And because we have the hotel bar on property all weekend, your Welshie can steer you to your room and tuck you in. You think I kid? You will be given a wristband at registration that identifies you as an attendee and old enough to drink …all weekend if you like.

Dinner

Don’t fill up on appetizers, because tonight is the huge Dagwood Bumpsted Deli Sandwich bar. Stack it high, mix and match. Wonderful sides. And a Dippy Dessert, that would make Dagwood proud.

Learning Symposium

Experts and peers will discuss three topics close to our Welshie loving heart: thyroid issues, grooming and performance. An information notebook will be prepared for each attendee (included in your registration fee) for you to refer back to, and also take notes and write down questions for later.

Night Cap Hour

Enjoy a nightcap, walk you puppies and feel free to ask our experts questions in a one-to-one environment. These generous speakers will be around all weekend, if you jotted down a few questions and we weren’t able to get to them on stage feel free to approach them later in the event.

Midnight: Night Owls

The bar is closed, so make sure you get several drinks at last call. If you want to hang out in the restaurant/bar area, please note that that area must be spic and span when you retire. We will have an event captain in charge of late night shut down, he/she will need your help and cooperation. Remember we have a full calendar everyday, don’t overindulge it's only the first night.

Friday, September 9, 2016

Hot breakfast, and then meet in the lobby ready to go downtown by 9:30AM (bring your Welshies, this outing is for them also)

Enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel (free with your room) and then get ready to head downtown with your dogs to shop and eat lunch. Main Street, Greenville has become a must-do walk, with each and every retailer – including chains like CVS, Mass General and Orvis – welcoming you and your Welshie into shop. Plus we have doggie’s favorite store like Paw Paws and Wines and Vines (organic beef jerky doggie treats).

Friday, September 9, 2016

Thank you Table 301, Lazy Goat and Passerelle Bistro forinviting the WTCares group into dine, with their welshies.

Attendees will be assigned a tour guide to make sure you experience Main St at its finest and don't miss a thing. All welshies are allowed in the retail stores and you are encouraged to shop with them. First all groups will rendezvous at the Falls Park Bridge for a group picture and then your guide will lead you off to explore, shop and nibble. But don’t nibble too much, were meeting for lunch at, your choice of two fabulous resturants on Main Street. Both are thrilled to have the welshies, both have full lunch menus, and both will sit approx 50 people and their welshies. You will enjoy lunch with a view: Lazy Goat sits right on the Reedy River and Passerelle Bistro sits at the foot of the famous suspension bridge over the Reedy River. Both are resturants under the Table 301 umbrella, which has been serving-up award winning food to Greenville diners since they open their first Soby's on Main. This is a special treat.

You will be asked to sign-up for your choice of a lunch destination. They are across the street or Reedy River from each other, but each has their own flavor.

After Lunch feel free to continue shopping, but give yourself and your doggie an hour or so to rest up for the evening.

It’s Cocktail Hour

The evening kicks off with cocktails and schmoozing, and while your sipping your favorite spirits and introducing your Welshies to new friends, we’ll be bringing in the “Whole Hog

This little piggy was a huge hit last year, so we had to have an encore evening with athentic southern BBQ and this time we added brisket to the menu. With lip smacking sides that includes: smoked mac and cheese and baked beans, coleslaw, and salad. Plus, Key Lime pie….YUMMY!

Then the Real Deal is Unveiled

It’s Casino Night, at the Stink Eye: Poker, Black Jack, and Roulette, all in fun and all for WTCARES. But the prizes are just as fabulous as the games. Everyone plays, every Welshie rescue wins and everyone has a blast! It's a Win,Win!!!

We’re not just playing to raise funds for WTCARES, we’re playing for some incredible prizes that were contributed by both corporate and private donors.

After the Fun and Games

Enjoy a nightcap with your new friends, buy raffle tickets and bid on the silent auction prizes. But don’t stay up too late, Saturday starts early and runs late.

Saturday, September 10, 2016

Hot breakfast, and then meet in the lobby ready to go to the Pelham Dog Park

Every year WTCARES rents the Historic Pelham Dog Park and let our Welshies party off leash. They play, swim and really seem to understand that this one is for them. Although I am pretty sure the humans have as much fun, if not more, than the dogs. We picnic, socialize, network, take pictures. Getting there by 10AM and leaving around 2PM. John Hoemann, Howie Upchurch and Kelly Hall will be our park host and are planning a wonderful picnic and a day to remember. I'm sure Molly-O will have a lot to say about it.

Then it’s a group picture and back to the hotel to rest up and get ready for the Saturday night extravaganza.

Saturday night's costume party, is an event favorite, and this year we have a surprise MC who is sure to make the evening magic

This year’s costume party is kicked up a notch with a stage that will best show off your costume efforts to the audience and the judges. $100 First prize and two other 2nd and 3rd champion prizes.

Saturday Night's Banquet will blow your taste buds out of the Water ....we are going Cajun! Oui!

We got your Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Vegetarian Gumbo, Lobster Bisque, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish Etouffee, Boudin Balls, Andouille Sausage with mustard, Salad and French Dipping Bread. We got your open bar. And we got your cheese cake bar with multiple toppings.

Don't stop bidding until the last Boudin Ball is Eaten, this is for the welshies.

The International Art Auction, the raffle and the Silent Auction all close at 9:30PM Saturday, so drink-up, spend and donate.

Last Call and Goodbyes are always Bittersweet. But to be honest, we can't squeeze anymore into this 3-Day Event.
